Discover Meteora, an iconic and enchanting place in Greece, with this excursion departing from Athens!
You'll start your excursion at Athens train station, and take a bus to the town of Kalambaka. On arrival, a driver-guide will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your name. He'll give you a short private tour of the town and take you to a local restaurant for lunch.
After lunch, you'll head for the monasteries of Meteora. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988, these Orthodox Christian monasteries are located in northern mainland Greece and date back to antiquity. The " monasteries hanging in the sky " owe their name to the rocks atop which they were built ; rocks that according to the ancients were sent to earth by heaven.
You'll have a few hours free to explore up to 3 monasteries!
You'll be driven back to Kalambaka, then to Athens.
