Located some 15 km from Krakow, the Wieliczka salt mine is one of Poland's most emblematic sites. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it attracts visitors from all over the world thanks to its underground galleries, salt sculptures and history dating back to the 13th century.
Joining by your own means, you'll gain quicker access to the site with your priority ticket before beginning your guided tour. You'll descend underground through almost 3 kilometers of galleries, discovering numerous chambers dug into the salt over the centuries.
Your guide will explain the history of the mine, the extraction techniques used in the past, and Polish mining traditions. You'll see statues carved in salt, underground lakes and impressive chambers decorated by the miners.
In particular, you'll visit the famous St. Kinga Chapel, made entirely of salt. This vast underground chamber is one of the highlights of the tour, thanks to its chandeliers, bas-reliefs and sculptures carved directly into the salt rock.
