Visit the famous Golden Circle by way of Super Jeep, and discover isolated corners of Iceland!
On this excursion, drive a Super Jeep 4x4 that has been specifically modified to drive over Iceland’s ground.
Start off in the Þingvellir National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There, find the Almannagjá fault line, which ends at the foot of an ancient subglacial volcano, and which marks the meeting point of the American and Eurasian tectonic plates. This is one of those rare spots where visitors can literally walk between two continents. This site is also important historically, because it marked the birth of Iceland as a state.
Head to the Hvítá river canyon, and admire the Gullfoss waterfall. You will be able to walk on a rocky plateau so close to the waterfall that you can feel the water droplets. Reach the top of the observation platform, and take in the view of the entire canyon.
Next, you’ll hit the road and head for the geothermal geysers. Walk among the puddles of mud and mineralized pools of azure water to reach the Geysir (meaning “to gush”) geyser, which gives its name to all of the others. Close by, see the Strokkur geyser, which is the most active. There is an eruption of hot water every 5 to 10 minutes.
Finally, head for the Langjökull glacier. There, climb aboard your snowmobile for a tour of one of Iceland’s biggest glaciers. Admire the panoramic views of the mountain chains.
